METRINCH 59 PCS COMBINATION SET 1/4” & 3/8” (MET-0559) is available to buy in increments of 1
Description
A bolt or nut has corners and flat sides. In contrast to the flat side, the corners are vulnerable and do not give a wrench a good grip.
During the development of the METRINCH system, the aim was to develop a wrench system with a long service life, but also a system that prevents damage to the bolts and nuts as much as possible. The patented METRINCH Wall Drive profile grips edges only on the surfaces and not on the corners. At the same time, the dimensions of sockets and wrenches have been chosen so precisely that a single METRINCH wrench fits both metric and inch bolts and nuts. For example, a 19mm METRINCH wrench fits on a metric bolt but also on the inch sizes 3/4” AF, 3/8” BSW, 7/16” BSF and even on the damaged or turned nuts and bolts. Another great advantage is that the METRINCH profile is available for sockets, ring spanners and socket spanners. In the latter case, the wrench engages at 4 points instead of 2 points as with a normal open-end wrench.
The METRINCH profile was developed to transmit force via larger gripping compartments than conventional 6- or 12-side profiles. This avoids extreme stress peaks, such as those that occur with wedge-shaped profiles, where the peaks are concentrated in places where the wall is less strong. METRINCH tools divide the force on the bolt or nut through the flat sides, thus exerting more force while greatly reducing the risk of deformation. The thinness of the sockets is an additional advantage. This thin wall is possible because it is precisely where the force is transmitted that has its greatest strength.
In terms of quality, it's also very good. The steel from which METRINCH is made consists of high-grade chromium-vanadium steel 46CrV4. This provides an additional safety margin, which proves its value under extreme loads. All METRINCH tools are polished and chrome plated, this way they are protected against rust in the most extreme conditions. The patented METRINCH WALL DRIVE profile has been precisely calculated to transmit a certain and even distribution of force to the side surfaces of the nut or bolt and not to the corners. As the force exerted increases, grip will improve and the chance of slipping will decrease. Test results have shown that forces exerted on METRINCH wrenches can be 1.5 times higher than with conventional wrenches.
